A little bit of a wrap up

Well I've been home for over a month now. I'm getting ready to move back up to johnstown on Sunday which is not too exciting. It's weird being back. It's so much quieter here, and boring in fact. I miss how busy everything was there and how there was always something to do. But being home is nice I guess. It's rather lonely though. In Hyderabad we all had each other and could spend all night talking about stupid stuff until the wee hours of the morning. But now, I spend a lot of "me" time. I guess it's ok. But I do miss my friends. And India. I just wish we could all go back whenever we wanted. Have little reunions every month. That would be nice. But I guess that's not gonna happen. I'm hoping we can all stay in contact, but I know that that's not realistic either.

I'm not gonna put any of my pictures up just because it takes so long and I have so many. But if you have a facebook you can look at them there!

So this past weekend we went on field trip for my religions class. We went to a Sikh Gurudwara. When we got there we saw a group of people crowded around the back of a bus. As we walked around the back of the bus we saw that there was a body in the back, we had just stumbled upon the end of a funeral service. I suddenly felt VERY uncomfortable being there. Not only was I the only white person in sight, but I was also one of a few females. And even if there had been more females, or white people i feel like I would have felt the same way. It just felt very intrusive. I was just going there to learn, and here were all of these people mourning the death of their loved one.
After that we decided to stop in a Methodist church that we had passed on the way. The services were over for the day but when we walked in there was a pastor (is that what methodists call them?) speaking. So we took a seat and had a listen. After a few minutes a woman from the audience got up and went to the podium and started speaking. which is when we noticed that she was sobbing, and that everyone around us was sobbing. We had walked into yet another funeral service. We discreetly snuck out the back. But it was just so weird that we just happened upon those two.

Then about 2 days later me and a few other girls went to go saree shopping. On the way there we saw a group of people standing in the middle of the road, didn't think much of it, that thing happens all the time here. As we passed the crowd we saw two legs sticking out from the crowd on the ground. We never found out what happened to whoever that was on the ground, and I think we're all hoping that they're just fine.
A few moments later a woman and her husband passed us on a motorcycle. The woman looked back and us and waved, I waved back. They passed us and a few minutes later I heard a loud bang and a scream. We drove forward only to see that the woman and her husband had been hit by an Auto and thrown from their bike. The woman was about 10 feet from the bike laying on the ground. She eventually got up and seemed to be ok, as did her husbnad. It was just so bizzare because I had just seen that woman and waved to her, and then she was face down on the pavement. It kind of put us all in a weird mood. And made us all a little nervous to be on the road.

Here are the rest of my pictures from Hampi! finally! On a side note, we went on a field trip for class today. It was pretty uneventful. But, I did have fresh coconut for the first time. I've had the coconut water a couple of times here. It's ok, not sweet like you'd think, but it's awkwardly refreshing. But today they stopped for some coconuts and had the guy cut them open after they drank all the water. So I got to eat some of the stuff inside. It was really weird. It was not at all the texture I expected. It was really fleshy and strange. It almost had the consistency of raw chicken. And it didn't taste anything like coconut I've ever had. It was almost savory. It was really good though. And I want more.
